Expanded Metal Gratings & Projection Mesh Safety Grating
Expanded Metal Grating
Expanded metal grating is the ideal material for industrial walkways. Expanded metal mesh grating combines light weight with unusual strength because each diamond is designed like a truss; every strand works to distribute the load in all directions to the supporting structure. Although Expanded Metal Grating is used extensively for walkways, it also has many other uses.
Expanded metal mesh grating is identified by weight per square foot. Carbon steel expanded metal grating is available from stock in 3, 3.14, 4, 4.27, 5, 6.25 and 7 pounds per square foot. Aluminum expanded metal mesh grating is available from stock in 2 pounds per square foot and stainless steel expanded metal mesh grating is available from stock in 3.3 and 4.5 pounds per square foot.
Expanded Metal Projection Mesh
Grating
We feature another expanded metal grating called projection mesh. Projection mesh expanded metal safety grating features small tooth-like projections on the upper surface of the mesh. These projections provide an excellent non-slip surface where additional anti-skid surfacing is desired. Projection mesh expanded metal grating is available in carbon steel in 2 and 3 pounds per square foot and in aluminum in 1 pound per square foot.
Expanded Metal Stair Tread/Catwalk Grating
Stairtreads and Catwalks are heavy duty types of expanded metal made from carbon steel,
aluminum, stainless steel and other alloys. They are safety oriented, lightweight and
open in design which makes them ideal for use in a multitude of commerical and industrial
applications. In addition to the regular grating products, we also manufacture Projection
Mesh Safety Grating.
Project Mesh, availabe in either carbol steel or aluminum are distinctively designed
expanded metal safety grating products. They have tooth-like projections on the the
upper surface of the design which provide an excellent non-slip surface where a safer
walking and working surface is needed.
Expanded Metal
Grating Features & Benefits
A heavy duty expanded metal mesh produced from steel plate and contains no welds or joints; each sheet is a single piece of steel and has a large open area.
Expanded Metal Gratings
Strengths
Meets the deflection requirements of Federal Specification RR-G-661b on clear spans up to 40 inches and less than 100 pounds per square foot uniform load. Grating tests confirm that larger spans and greater loads may be accommodated if the amount of deflection is not critical.
Expanded Metal Gratings Low
Cost
It is generally more economical to build walkways and platforms with expanded metal mesh grating than with other types of steel grating. With savings of up to 50%, the reduction in dead weight afforded by the use of expanded metal grating is also a plus factor in the design of large structures.
Expanded Metal Gratings Safety
Metal gratings provide a natural slip resistant walking surface. The high percentage of open area, a characteristic of expanded metal mesh grating, allows snow, water and oil to drain off easily, thus maintaining the slip resistant surface. Metal gratings also allow excellent passage of heat and light and contribute to walkway cleanliness.
Expanded Metal Gratings
Handling & Job Fabrication
Our metal mesh gratings come in convenient sheet sizes and are lightweight. Job fabrication and fitting is easy and can be done with one or two men with simple cutting and welding equipment. Our grating sizes make it possible for installation on walkways and platforms even though the structure has been completed.
